It’s our tendency to use the same words or grammar patterns when a conversation is going well.
WeChat is an ESRC-funded project researching communication difficulties in children with autism. The researchers will carry out studies using simple games and conversation tasks. The way that different children do these tasks will help them understand conversational alignment better.
The project is run by researchers at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and the University of Sussex in Brighton.
WeChat is having a competition to find the picture that represents the project best. Participants must be no more than 16 years old. The picture needs to be original work, creative and reflect the topic of WeChat: children’s conversation.
The winner will receive a £25 voucher and goody bag and their school will also get a £50 voucher. If you are tempted and…creative, you can find the entry form here under “How to enter”.
