A recently study evaluated a new iPad® app with 54 children with autism under 6 years of age. The app consistently engaged children, regardless of age and developmental level, and was rated highly by parents.
Although the app did not have an observable impact on real-world social communication skills, results yielded important findings suggesting that the study of iPad® apps for in-home use with children with autism warrants further pursuit, perhaps targeting other skill domains.
