Melissa Morgenlander, is a researcher, curriculum designer and parent of preschool twins (one of whom is on the autism spectrum). Morgenlander has been working with a company called InteractAble to develop uChoose, an iPad-based game designed to teach social skills to children between the ages of 7 and 11.
uChoose is intended for children with milder symptoms of autism who are ready to embark on improving their social interactions. Results of their initial research, as well as rounds of app testing with the target population, have revealed certain elements to be crucial to a successful learning experience for children with autism.
In a recent article in the Autism Daily Newscast, Morgenlander shared six characteristics critical to building an effective social skills learning experience for children on the autism spectrum.
