In an attempt to bring a real community partnership into the Patrick Wild Centre, they are working with the McDonald family (Gillian & Craig, and their twin sons, Matthew & Stuart) over a twelve month period, getting their input as a family affected by Fragile X syndrome, into the work they conduct at the center. In pursuit of her interest in the potential of technology as a support tool for people with autism, intellectual disability, and fragile X syndrome, Sue Fletcher-Watson combines research-based evidence with accumulated experience, and many conversations with practitioners, parents, and people with autism and other social skills deficits. Sue relishes rare opportunities to directly evaluate new technologies alongside younger people, or those with a learning difficulty. In her last visit to the McDonald’s home, such an opportunity presented itself and Sue was able to sit down with Matthew and Stuart, exploring both of their favorite uses of technology, and providing them with some of her favorite apps to try out.
