As mentioned in a previous news post, the 3rd edition of the International Conference on Innovative Technologies for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ITASD) is taking place this year between 30 June – 2 July, in Valencia, Spain.
This post provides more details about the types of projects to be submitted for ITASD 2017 and the main topics covered at this year’s conference.
ITASD 2017 conference is open to projects on a wide range of topics with particular interest in those
- stressing practical and functional aspects
- highlighting the innovative use of technology (at any level of development – emerging or established- and level of sophistication)
- that have validated their tools with people with autism
- that, although not directly empirical themselves, concentrate on the analysis and summary of empirical studies relating to technology and autism (systematic reviews, meta-analysis studies, books on technologies and autism, training programs or workshops)
The topics covered at this year’s ITASD are:
- Technology Design (including co-design or participatory / Maker movement)
- Connecting technologies with people
- Instruments for measuring ASD-related symptoms
- Early intervention
- Alternative and augmentative communication
- Leisure
- Time, activities and environment management
- Self-determination and self-regulation
- Language and Literacy
- Emotional and social learning
- Access to education syllabus
- Access to employment
