Our BETA project financed by FIRAH set out on its international journey five months ago. Last month in Paris, BETA was featured in the seminar “Social Interaction, Intelligent systems and Health” organised by the Sorbonne University’s Institute of Engineering in Health.
While Nao the robot was rambling around the auditorium, our team members were approached by many researchers and medical doctors curious about how popular pieces of technology can be integrated in clinical and educational settings.
Is clinical validation of the impact of an intervention enough in order to prescribe it?
Does reliance on medical theories suffice to support the efficiency of an app?
Can robots replace animal therapy which is gaining popularity within the autism community ?
If an app is based on solid theory and is reasonably priced should we hesitate before purchasing it?
Those were only a few of the questions that stirred a fruitful dialogue among people from different fields and with different mentalities.
